Gale
the short version
Gale is an offline trainer. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no network access, and the only things it writes down — your quiz scores and your settings — stay on the phone.

by design, not by omission
The app never reads the anemometer it doesn't have, but it also never reads what it could: no location, no barometer, no microphone, no camera. Everything on screen is drawn from the scale itself, which is why a force 9 looks the same in Sofia as it does in a tent. It requests no Android permissions at all.
on the device only
That is the entire list, and it sits in the app's private storage. No server exists to copy it to. If Android's backup is on for your phone, that small file may travel into the backup Google keeps under your account, which is between you and Google.
no analytics, no ads
No sign-in, no advertising identifier, no analytics events, no crash SDK of ours, no profiling. We cannot see how often anyone plays, or whether they ever tell a gale from a strong breeze.
the only third party
The store delivers the app on Google's own terms. Where a phone is set to share usage and diagnostics with Google, aggregate crash figures may appear on our Play Console. They name nobody and we read them to find what broke.
read this before you go out
Gale is a learning tool and an estimate. It measures nothing, predicts nothing, and knows nothing about the weather where you are standing. An estimate is not a reason to sail, launch a kite or a paraglider, climb, cycle an exposed coast road or take anyone out on the water.
Use the official forecasts and warnings: in Bulgaria those come from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, and at sea from the marine forecast for your area. Storm and hurricane force wind kills people who go out to watch it, and falling branches and slates do the same to people who stay close to home. In an emergency anywhere in the EU, call 112.
safe to hand over
Nothing is collected from users of any age, and the app has no chat, no links out and nothing to buy. Going outside to check the wind, though, is something to do with an adult in rough weather.
the one place we learn anything
If you write, we get your address and your message and use them to reply and to correct the app, relying on our legitimate interest in answering correspondence, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. A thread is deleted within twelve months of our last message unless a law requires us to keep it.
and the regulator
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability apply in full, though an email exchange is the only file we could hand over. Ask and we answer within a month. If that does not settle it, the Commission for Personal Data Protection (Комисия за защита на личните данни), 2 Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Blvd, Sofia 1592, cpdp.bg, supervises us; residents of other EU countries may go to their own authority instead.
both are simple
Clearing the app's data in Android's settings, or uninstalling it, removes the scores and settings; there is no copy anywhere else. This page is rewritten, with a new date under the title, before any release that changes what the app does with data. Nothing is transferred abroad, because nothing is transferred at all.
